Ingredients
- Onion, chopped 1/2 large
- Carrot, chopped 1
- Celery stocks, chopped 2
- Garlic crushed three cloves
- Olive oil 1/4 cup
- Ground beef 1 pound
- Red wine 1/2 cup
- Crushed tomatoes 28-oz
- Parsley 1/4 cup
- Basil leaves, julienned 10
- Thyme 3 sprigs
- Bay leaves 2
- Garlic powder 1/4 teaspoon
- Cayenne pepper 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt and pepper to taste
Steps
- Puree onion, carrot, celery, and garlic in a food processor.
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, saute the pureed vegetables for 15-20 minutes.
- Turn the heat up to medium-high and add the ground beef and brown for 15 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Stir in red wine and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, parsley, basil, bay leaves, thyme, garlic powder, and cayenne.
- Cook over medium-low heat for at least 30 minutes.
- Salt and pepper to taste.
