- 1 pound flank steak (or sirloin)
- 2 cups broccoli slaw mix (shredded broccoli stems, carrots, and cabbage)
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce (or hoisin sauce)
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar (or honey)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch + 2 tablespoons water (for slurry)
- Sesame seeds and sliced green onions, for garnish
Directions
- Take a small bowl and add soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, and brown sugar, whisk them together. Set aside.
- Heat one tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced steak and stir fry for about 3–4 minutes until browned but not overcooked.
- Remove from the pan and set it aside.
- Add the remaining oil to the skillet. Toss in garlic, ginger, and sliced bell peppers.
- Cook for 2–3 minutes until slightly tender.
- Add broccoli slaw and stir fry for another 2 minutes until just crisp.
- Return the beef to the skillet. Pour in the sauce and stir well to coat everything.
- Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
