Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 1/3 cups sugar divided
- 1 cup eggnog
4 1/2 cups flour - 1 teaspoon vanilla or rum extract
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- In a big bowl, mix the butter and 2 cups of sugar until it looks light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla and mix again.
- In another bowl, sift the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
- Slowly add the dry mix to the butter mixture, switching between the dry mix and the eggnog. The dough will be thick and a bit sticky.
- In a small bowl, mix 1/3 cup sugar with 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg.
- Scoop the dough into rounded spoonfuls, roll each one in the sugar–nutmeg mix, and place them 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the cookies look set and start to crack on top.
