Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 200 g pasta (spaghetti, fettuccine, or penne)
- 2-4 slices of Apple Smoked Bacon
- 250 g shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup shiitake mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cups kale, chopped (remove tough stems)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Gluten-free tamari sauce to taste
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 cups of heavy cream
- Arrowroot powder
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Juice of ½ lemon
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Directions
- Take the butter in a pan and melt it, add the bacon, cut into small pieces. Cook until the bacon turns crispy, then remove it and set it aside. Leave the bacon fat in the pan for cooking.
- Add the shiitake mushrooms to the pan and cook until they are soft but not mushy. Stir in the garlic, cover the pan, and let it cook for 2 minutes so the flavors mix without burning the garlic. Next, add the shrimp, season with tamari and black pepper, and cook until the shrimp turn pink.
- Now, add the chopped kale to the shrimp in the buttery garlic sauce. Pour in the chicken bone broth and cook until the kale is tender but not mushy. Cover the pan for a few minutes to help the greens wilt down.
- Stir in the heavy cream and let it bubble gently. Take a small amount of the hot liquid from the pan and mix in 1–2 teaspoons of arrowroot powder until smooth with no lumps.
- Add this mixture back into the pan and stir well. Let everything simmer on low heat for a few minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Add the crispy bacon bits back into the pan. Stir in some lemon zest and lemon juice to taste. That’s it—you’re done!
- Serve the shrimp pasta over sautéed cabbage. Enjoy with a smile.
Tips
- Don’t overcook shrimp; they turn rubbery quickly.
- A splash of cream or butter can make the sauce richer.
